Bras and Bust Support
Built-In Support
Many wedding dresses come with built-in boning, cups, or internal support structures that eliminate the need for a separate bra entirely. This is especially common in strapless, sweetheart, and corseted bodices. If your dress has a well-structured bodice and you feel supported during your fitting, you may not need anything else on top. Your seamstress can also add or adjust cups during alterations for a more customized fit.
Strapless Bras

If you’re wearing shapewear with a built-in gusset, you may be able to skip underwear altogether, just make sure you’re comfortable with that choice before the big day.
Bring Everything to Your Fittings
This is possibly the most important tip in this entire guide. Whatever you plan to wear under your dress on the wedding day, bring it to every single fitting. Your seamstress will pin, hem, and adjust based on exactly what you’re wearing underneath. If you show up to fittings in a regular bra and then switch to adhesive cups on the day, the fit of the bodice can shift noticeably.
